Hope at the Table. Bringing comfort, connection, and hope to children fighting cancer
During treatment, Caius told his mom that the meal he wanted most was his Papa’s tacos.
That simple wish opened her eyes to how much food can mean during childhood cancer treatment especially when children may lose their appetite, lose their sense of taste, have dietary restrictions, or simply dream about the foods they hope to enjoy again.
Hope at the Table™ was created to give children and their families something meaningful to look forward to:
a catered meal centered around the foods and flavors that bring them comfort and joy, shared with the
people closest to them.
And when a child rings the bell, we want to be there. Because every bell is different. For some children, it may celebrate the completion of treatment. For others, it may mark the completion of an important phase or milestone.
And for some families, the bell may represent something much more difficult a moment they choose to celebrate together even when the future is uncertain.
Whatever that bell means, that child deserves to be honored. And that’s what we want to do — bring their loved ones around a table, share a meal, create a memory, and remind them that they are not alone.
