The Story Behind Caius Golden Bell of Hope

Caius Golden Bell of Hope was inspired by a simple conversation between a mother and her son, Caius, during his childhood cancer journey.

During one of the most difficult phases of treatment, Caius told his mom that the one meal he wanted was his papa’s tacos. During their long hospital stay, she began noticing other children talking about the foods they dreamed of eating when they felt better. Some children struggled to eat, lost their sense of taste, or relied on feeding tubes, making the simple comfort of a favorite meal feel especially meaningful.

That experience inspired Hope at the Table™ — a program created to give children facing cancer and their families a moment to look forward to. When a child rings the bell to mark an important milestone in their cancer journey, Golden Bell of Hope provides a catered meal for the child and their close family members, centered around a meal they have been wanting or craving.

Because sometimes, after everything a child has been through, a meal is more than a meal. It’s comfort. It’s normalcy. It’s joy. It’s a moment to sit together and simply be a family.

What began with Caius and his papa’s tacos is growing into a community of hope — one child, one meal, and one bell at a time.
